Brooklyn International High School (BIHS) is currently seeking a New York State–certified Physical Education teacher to join our vibrant learning community. About Our School

BIHS serves recently arrived English language learners representing more than 40 countries and over 20 languages. As a New York City public school affiliated with the Internationals Network for Public Schools, we provide a collaborative, project-based learning environment where students develop both language and academic skills.

About the Role

Our Physical Education program emphasizes student choice and engagement. Teachers design inclusive and dynamic learning experiences that allow students to explore activities such as:

  • Soccer

  • Basketball

  • Volleyball

  • Table tennis

  • Weightlifting

  • Badminton

The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, values culturally responsive teaching, and is committed to supporting students’ physical and social-emotional development. They also approach classroom management and student interactions through a restorative lens, using community-building practices and conflict resolution strategies that promote accountability, empathy, and growth.

Qualifications

  • New York State Physical Education certification (required)

  • Commitment to equity and culturally responsive teaching

  • Experience or interest in working with English language learners

  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to engage in interdisciplinary planning

  • Commitment to or experience with restorative practices in school communities
