School of the Future is hiring both a 6th Grade Math teacher and a 6th Grade Science teacher (and potentially a new Middle School / High School Physical Education teacher)

For 6th Grade Math, SOF uses the Amplify Desmos curriculum. Our 6th Grade science curriculum is Life Science.

We will potentially also be hiring a new Middle School / High School Physical Education teacher. This position is contingent on the completion of a renovated gym space and funding from the Class Size Reduction law.

School of the Future is a small, innovative New York City public school located in Manhattan, serving students from 6th to 12th grade. We aim to have a rigorous, supportive, and community-minded environment. Half of our classes are co-taught, and we have a very strong and integrated Special Education Program. Students at the School of the Future graduate through Exit Projects in Middle School and Exhibitions (PBATS) in high school. These are extensively researched papers and oral presentations where students demonstrate they have mastered the challenging standards of research: construct and answer an interesting essential question, demonstrate critical thinking skills, and adhere to conventions of writing. The high school uses this form of assessment instead of Regents Exams. We use a competency-based grading system to assess our students and support them in their academic growth. Our approach is to be nurturing yet academically demanding and provide personally and politically engaging curricula.
