Hello Prospective Candidates!

Are you excited about education and delivering passion-infused instruction to a vibrant

Arturo A. Schomburg Satellite Academy Bronx is an Alternative Transfer High School that is currently expanding its program offerings to include Future Ready - Health Career programs and a Bilingual Special Education program. Due to this expansion, we are looking for new community members and currently have openings for teaching positions and other posts.

Please email mvernon@schools.nyc.gov, kduverge@schools.nyc.gov and  acerqua@schools.nyc.gov to express your interest.

A little more about the Special Education position:

  • We primarily have ICT classes in our school due to the fact that we believe a teacher's ability to consistently plan with a partner teacher and work with the same group of students for an extended period of time leads to higher academic achievements for students. This is also the least restrictive environment to ensure that our Sped students flourish.

  • We had a team of 4-5 Special education teachers and are now expanding to a team of 6-7.  We meet one to two times a week as a team.

  • Special Education teachers at our school are expected to support 3 classes and will have a caseload of approximately 15-20 IEP's a year.

A little more about the History position:

  • We have a History department made up of four teachers.  We are looking for a candidate that wants to be a part of a community that values the voices of our students, their families, and other staff members as we help students to develop their History knowledge in addition to supporting English language acquisition.

  • We are looking for teachers who develop, plan, and deliver engaging lessons on historical topics,  including ancient civilizations, modern history, government and economics.

  • Assess student learning through benchmarks and essays and project based learning experiences, including experiences that extend beyond the school building.

A little more about the Science position:

  • Our Science team consists of three science teachers.

  • We are looking for candidates who oversee science laboratory activities, ensuring students learn and follow safety regulations while using scientific tools like biology, chemistry or physics.

  • Design inquiry-based, hands-on lessons that promote scientific thinking and problem solving.

  • We are looking for teachers that offer additional student support through tutoring, or enrichment.

  • Assess student learning through benchmarks and essays and project based learning experiences, including experiences that extend beyond the school building.

A little more about the English position:

  • We have an English department made up of three teachers.

  • We are looking for candidates that can develop and deliver engaging English Language Arts lessons and instructions, aligned with state standards and the consortium curriculum.

  • We are looking for candidates that can differentiate instructions to meet the diverse academic, social and emotional needs of our students.

  • We are looking for candidates that can monitor students progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth.

  • Assess student learning through benchmarks and essays and project based learning experiences, including experiences that extend beyond the school building.

A little more about the School Aide position:

  • We have a team of two school aides.

  • We are looking for candidates who can provide general support to teachers, administrators, and school staff throughout the school day.

  • Support arrival, dismissal, and transitions between classes. Monitor student behavior in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and other common areas.

  • We are looking for candidates that can help maintain a clean, organized, and safe school environment, as well as be flexible to meet the needs of the students and the school.
