Consortium Affiliates

With the adoption of the New York State Portrait of a Graduate, we recognize a growing need among schools and districts seeking to move beyond standardized testing toward inquiry-based teaching and more engaging curriculum and authentic assessment practices.

We launched the Consortium Affiliate Schools Program to provide access to a proven and externally validated performance-based assessment system and a community of committed and collaborative educators pursuing this work together. It is one pathway for schools to make this transition—offering access to our decades of expertise, vetted performance-based assessment tasks (PBATs), and a collaborative learning community. This program delivers the structure, resources, and ongoing support necessary to implement in-depth performance-based assessments successfully and sustainably.

The Consortium has spent more than 25 years developing and refining a nationally-recognized approach to curriculum, instruction and assessment that prioritizes in-depth inquiry, reasoning with evidence, communication of ideas, and inspiring curiosity. Learn more.

““The New York Performance Standards Consortium is the site of some of the most sophisticated performance assessments for graduation from high school in the country.””
