 Teaching During A Pandemic.

Consortium teachers came together in their disciplines during the Summer of 2020, amidst tremendous uncertainty to plan as best we could for the opening of school in the fall. We collected resources and artifacts from these planning sessions that may be useful to teachers.

Equity Portfolios.

The Center for Inquiry invited Consortium educators to submit Equity Portfolios between 2018 and 2020 to highlight and share curriculum and school practices around issues of deep concern: recognizing and including students’ cultural backgrounds, interests, and lived experience in the design and structures of our schools. College Preparatory Courses

Under the firm conviction that Consortium teachers are highly competent professionals who write high quality, challenging curriculum, around 2012, the Consortium asked schools to submit curricula for classes that were designed to push students at the highest level in preparation for college. The submissions were then presented to faculty members at NYC colleges and universities, who combed through them, evaluating them for depth of analysis, content and rigor. Those courses that were certified in this way were designated “College Preparatory Courses.” The Department of Education developed their own certification process for these courses that included a review of selected student work and clearinghouse data of the students who had taken these courses.
