Brooklyn International High School Science Educator Vacancy

The Brooklyn International High School (BIHS) is currently accepting science teacher applications. We are committed to building a faculty that deeply understands, values and honors the diverse linguistic, cultural, emotional and academic gifts our students carry. We strongly encourage applications from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

At BIHS, we serve a population of recently-arrived, English language learners from more than 40 different countries and speak over 20 different languages.  We are a NYC public school affiliated with  Internationals Network for Public Schools.  In our collaborative, project based learning environment, we help students develop language and content knowledge. Ideal candidates are committed to working with a diverse student population and are excited about helping students acquire and develop their English language skills through meaningful content and contexts.  Additionally, candidates should value working in a highly collaborative environment with an interdisciplinary team of colleagues. As a 25-year member of the New York Performance Standards Consortium, we seek to provide students with hands-on, authentic, project-based learning opportunities centered around inquiry.  Our teachers design engaging curriculum that is relevant to our students' lives and builds on the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed in college and careers.  In past years, science teachers have designed and implemented interdisciplinary units exploring water filtration, designing/building geodesic domes, genetic analysis, and interactive recycling stations.

Science Vacancy:

Candidates must be New York State certified.  Due to the interdisciplinary nature of our work, applicants of all science subjects areas are encouraged to apply.  Experience with digital fabrication tools or designing curriculum for makerspaces is a plus.  Interested candidates should send a resume and cover letter to hiringcomm439@mybihs.org.  We look forward to meeting you!
