Arturo A. Schomburg Satellite Academy Bronx is an Alternative Transfer High School that is currently expanding its program offerings to include Future Ready - Health Career programs and a Bilingual Special Education program. Due to this expansion, we are looking for new community members and currently have openings for World Language Spanish Teacher, Math (with bilingual Spanish extension), and English. A little more about the Spanish Teacher:
Students in the BSE program must receive home language support in Spanish which will be one of the three courses you teach. The other two courses will be Spanish instruction to satisfy foreign language graduation requirements.
An ideal candidate will be motivated and excited to pioneer our qualification for awarding our first Seal of Biliteracy.
Interview Details:
Bring a sample lesson plan in your licensed area that is a 60-minutes time period. It should connect to the 20-minute demo.
Be ready to conduct a 20-minute demo lesson based on your plan, emphasizing student writing, editing, and group work activities.
The demo lesson should include a short activity, assessments, and a concise wrap-up.
Provide a copy of your portfolio if available.

Arturo A. Schomburg Satellite Academy is a transfer high school located at 1010 Rev. James Polite Avenue, Bronx, NY 10459. We are a NYS Performance Based Assessment Task (PBAT) school, also known as a Consortium School. To learn more about Consortium schools, you can visit http://performanceassessment.org/.
Our school operates on a trimester system, where all academic core classes are 60 minutes long, with an additional 45-minute extension lab four days a week. Teachers teach three out of five periods a day.
We are a PROSE school, offering teachers opportunities to create project-based curriculum through extensive planning.
We provide numerous professional development opportunities, mentorship and peer coaching.
We foster a small, highly collaborative community with strong structures in place.
