International High School at LaGuardia Community College Hiring History Teacher with a TESOL License for an 11th and 12th Grade Team

We are looking to fill the following positions immediately, for the 2025-2026 school year:

  • History Teacher with a TESOL License for an 11th and 12th Grade Team

The TESOL position is on one of our grade-level interdisciplinary teacher teams. The role of the teacher would

include:

  • Developing and teaching a project-based curriculum

  • Working with team members to develop interdisciplinary projects

  • Developing community-building activities for students

  • Designing and implementing a PBAT (project-based assessment task) aligned task that will be assessed

  • using the New York Performance Standards Consortium rubric

  • Supporting the English language acquisition of our multilingual students

Multilingualism is a plus.

About International HS at LaGCC

Founded over 30 years ago, International High School at LaGuardia Community College is a public high school in the NYC Department of Education for students who are multi-language learners (MLLs) and who have recently arrived in the United States. Structure: We work collaboratively on interdisciplinary institute teams to support students & create curriculum.

Our Junior Institute teams are made up of mixed 9th and 10th graders and our Senior Institute teams are made up of mixed 11th and 12th graders.

Curriculum: In each of our classes, students engage in projects that invite them to dive deeply into each topic and consider multiple perspectives. We plan curriculum thematically and units are often interdisciplinary.

School Community and Culture: As teachers in a small school, we develop enduring relationships with students within and across teams. Faculty in our school take on shared responsibilities under our model of distributed leadership.
