Lab School for Finance & Technology Has Opening in Social Studies

The Laboratory School for Finance and Technology (07X223) is looking for a dedicated, intelligent, innovative teacher to add to our community of educators. MS 223 has been a high performing middle school in the South Bronx for the last fifteen years. We are a model school for both math instruction and Teacher's College literacy instruction in the region. Starting in September 2013, we began to expand to serve students in grades 6 through 12 and graduated our first high school class in June. Our high school is part of the New York Performance Standards Consortium, a group of schools that believes one size fits all standardized tests are not the best measure of mastery. Our students are exempt from all Regents Exams except English and instead complete Performance Based Assessment Tasks, often in interdisciplinary units. For more information, please see http:// performanceassessment.org/.  Teachers interested in teaching either middle or high school should consider applying.

The strengths of the school include:

  • access to numerous professional development opportunities (coach in all content areas and outside support from TCWRP)

  • access to classroom resources, technology and tools that will aid and enhance your teaching

  • the freedom to be an instructional leader and innovator in the classroom

  • a community of energetic and devoted colleagues

  • award winning middle school Spanish dual language immersion program

MS/HS 223 is located at 360 E. 145th Street, Bronx, NY 10454. The entrance is on 144th Street between Willis Avenue and 3rd Avenue. We are easily accessible from the 2/5 Train at 149th Street and 3rd Ave or the 6 Train at 3rd Ave and 138th Street.
